Limitations and alternatives
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of Benihana, there may be some limitations. Below are descriptions of known limitations. Please contact us at [email protected] if you observe an issue not listed below.
Known limitations for Benihana:
- 4. WCAG 1.1.1 Non-text Content
a. Some alternative text is not descriptive. This causes issues for example with users who are partially or completely blind, as they will not get the same context as sighted users.
2. WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships
a. Some text is styled as a heading but not labeled as such. This could cause confusion for some users, as if they can see text that is styled a s a heading, they might expect it to be in the screen reader headings menu, or to be able to be navigated directly to.
3. WCAG 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks
a. Some text is linking to anchors that do not exist, because these are being used with Javascript. This could cause some issues with assistive technology.
4. WCAG 2.4.4 Link Purpose
a. Some text links are using the same words, but going to different urls. (eg; Season Specials). This could confuse some screen reader users who can’t see any visual context for these links.
5. WCAG 2.1 AA SC 4.1.3 Status Messages
a. On the Reservations page, if a screen reader user selects ‘Complete reservation’ at the end of the reservation process, no confirmation is announced when the screen changes to show a reservation has been made. This error specifically is due to 3rd party software (Open Table) and not immediately resolvable. However we are researching solutions.
Action being taken
We are working with an external team to address these issues plus refining the site in other areas for accessibility. We plan to resolve the above issues by May 2025 and will retest for accessibility regularly.
